Thanking Its Customers — Digicel’s 4 Cars in 4 Weeks Promo
Digicel continues to give back to the public and local communities through its 4 Cars in 4 Weeks Promotional Campaign.
At Digicel, responsibility is a fundamental value that propels stakeholder engagement. One recent testament to Digicel’s corporate social responsibility and corporate citizenship was its 4 Cars in 4 Weeks Summer Promotional Campaign. As part of the initiative, prepaid and postpaid Digicel customers could win more than JMD$25,000,000.00 in amazing prizes and cash earnings through live radio cash calls. To participate, eligible customers were required to perform a qualifying activity during the qualifying period.
Some of the luckiest winners walked away with JMD$40,000 daily cash prizes or new 2023 Hyundai Tucson SUVs, courtesy of Digicel. The four deserving Hyundai recipients included Andrea Gayle (Week One), Andrae Pennant (Week Two), Sherrilee Brown (Week Three) and Newton Edwards (Week Four).
In week one, Gayle felt especially moved because she had lost three previous cars to theft and accidents. Her winning also came on the cusp of her 60th birthday. In week two, Pennant elaborated on how he would use his new car to build his business. A car loan rejection and unreliable taxi services previously hindered his work as a photographer with a resort chain. Similarly, in week three, Brown, a customer for more than two decades, had been denied for a loan before winning a new vehicle for herself and her children. And finally, in week four on 4 August 2023 in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Edwards saw his sacrifices payoff just ahead of his 70th birthday. As a father of five, he was working tirelessly to keep his van functional.
An Entity Based on Social Good
As previously discussed, recognising loyal customers has long been a driving force at Digicel — it has always been committed to empowering, supporting and uplifting the community. One heart-warming story from last summer that speaks to this was when a young father of two, J Williams, was awarded a million dollars. Williams was a former sales representative who was unable to work following an end-stage kidney failure diagnosis in 2020.
After becoming the eighth recipient of the Digicel Golden SIM promotion, Williams put this money towards his dialysis treatments. Williams himself recalled hearing the unexpected news, saying “I had just come from dialysis when my son woke me up. I didn’t believe it at first, but I went on the Digicel page and told my son to call out the numbers. When I saw the last number, I said, ‘Yes!’ I was excited.”
